Review: Garnier Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV-Lotion

I LOVE this product. The product says it will lock-in moisture for 24 hours, block out dryness and protect your skin from UV rays. It does all of these things wonderfully. As far as results, it says your skin is protected from UV rays and looks and feels supple, smooth and hydrated for 24 hours. After 1 week it will maintain skin's moisture barrier. With regular use your skin is protected against external aggressors and continuously moisturized and looks healthier and stronger.

Things I love:
1. It is extremely lightweight. It is very thin but it does it's job pretty well
2. It smells fantastic, very clean and fresh. There is a little hint of apple since it has apple water extracts.
3. I love the pump, it allows for easy and equal distribution. It also twists to close so you can take it on a trip or in your purse without worrying it'll spill.
4. It has an SPF of 15 so you have some protection from the UV rays.
5. It makes my skin feel very soft and supple.
6. It makes a great under-makeup lotion.
7. It has more of a gel texture than thick lotion.

Things I don't love so much:
1. I'm used to my Arbonne FC5 day creme which is super moisturizing so this is a change

I definitely recommend this product. I found it at Target for $6.99. There is also a night creme that comes in jar for the same price. This is my favorite drugstore moisturizer I have ever used. I think you should go get it!

Cold Weather Essentials

Now that the weather is crisp and cold I have started using different products and have reoccuring loves. My skin gets especially dry in the cold weather season so I use different products for this reason.

Body Butter
For me, body butter works best for my dry skin. I apply it right after I get out of the shower to lock in the moisture. My favorite's come from the Body Shop. I love the Mango and Strawberry scents. The formula does feel a little greasy but it goes away after a while. I apply it at night so when I wake up my skin is soft and moisturized but not greasy.

Lip Balm
My lips get very dry and I have the bad habit of licking them when they feel dry which makes it worse. I can't get enough of Nivea's A Kiss of Moisture. The formula is very thick and soft. I have tried other Nivea lip products but my favorite is A Kiss of Moisture. The Milk and Honey one is nice but I find that I have to reapply it alot more often than A Kiss of Moisture.

Salt/Sugar Scrub
In the winter it is essential to exfoliate your skin to remove the dead dry skin that builds up. By removing the dead skin you are allowing your skin to soak up the lotion or moisturizer, otherwise it will just sit on top of your skin.

Face Exfoliator
The same goes for my face. I notice if I don't exfoliate at least once a week, my lotion doesn't absorb into my skin. It is important to use a gentler exfoliator in the colder months so it isn't so abrasive on your skin.

Night Creme

Night time is the perfect time to put on a thick creme. It allows your skin to soak up the rich moisture for 8 hours, give or take depending on how much sleep you get :). I personally love the Arbonne

Candles

There is something about the soft flicker of a candle flame that makes me feel warm. I love the fall and winter scents and having that extra warm feeling makes it a must.

Fuzzy Socks
Fuzzy socks go perfectly with a nice hot cup of hot cocoa and a blanket by the fireplace. I wear fuzzy socks whenever I'm at home and even out (under boots of course) to keep my feet extra warm. There are so many fun prints and patterns. I find a lot of mine at Old Navy for around $5. I know Bath and Body Works, H+M, and other retailers sell them.

Haul: Wet n' Wild Cosmetics

Okay, so I feel like I should do a Black Friday haul but a lot of it was clothes except for three things so I will continue to think about it or leave a comment letting me know if you want to see!! Anywho, I stopped by Walgreen's on my way home today and I remembered seeing Walgreens ad in the newspaper and it said that Wet n' Wild cosmetics were 50% off! They are already very inexpensive to begin with so this was an amazing deal! I picked up 5 things with a total of $8.04 (including tax.) I also found a nail polish but I think the cashier forgot to ring it up because it's no where to be found on my receipt on in my bag :(.

I have been needing a new bronzer with none or very little shimmer. The one I am currently using is Elf's Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder. The bronzer in that is very shimmery although a perfect color. The WnW one is even better. It has barely any shimmer or sparkle and is the perfect shade for my skin. It contours beautifully. The one thing though is that when you dab your brush one the powder, the powder chunks together and kind of goes all over. If you can get past that con I definitely recommended it.

One of the next two products is everywhere in the YouTube beauty guru world. The eyeshadow in the shade Nutty. It is a very beautiful color. It has a shimmer finish with a touch of frost but it still makes for a gorgeous color. It is a light brown with silver/white shimmer. It would be perfect for a crease color for a day look or a very natural look. The other single eyeshadow I purchased was Envy. It is a shimmery army green- perfect for this season's army and military trend :). I think this color would look really nice as an all over lid color with gold liner top and bottom and full lashes. Over all these shadows are SUPER pigmented. I can't emphasize super enough. I lightly ran my finger over it to do a swatch and so much product came off (in a good way.) I really look forward to using these.

This next product is an eyeshadow palette. It is in the color Vanity. There are 6 colors- 3 matte and 3 shimmery. My favorite color just from swatching is the shimmery white one (the second swatch from the white side). I think it will make a great highlight. I was a little disappointed in the pigmentation of the lighter colors. The matte colors seemed a little chalky to me. I will continue to use these and see if they are worthy of my every day use :)

The last product is a lipstick. It is in the color Bare something...I threw away the wrapping and the lipstick tube doesn't have the name. It does have a number though: 902C. This is the perfect nude shade for my skin next to Revlon's Soft Nude. The formula is very creamy and it "dries" matte. I would recommend using a lip liner underneath though because after about 10-15 minutes of wearing it i noticed it started disappearing on the inner part of my lips. The swatch on my hand shows it more of a pinky but the color on my lips is the true color.

I hope you found this post helpful :). I apologize for not posting as often as I did previously but school is consuming my free time :( I have end of the year exams coming up and teachers are cramming many assignments and tests in. I will hopefully catch up over the Winter Break. I have some interesting post ideas: Cold Weather Essentials: Beauty and other random things; a haul with nail polish and decals from Japan :); and maybe a Black Friday haul..it will be late haha.

Haul: Nail Polish & Current Nail Polish

These are some nail polishes that I've purchased over the past few weeks.

Sally Hansen had a color come out over the summer called "Hidden Treasure." It really was a hidden treasure because I couldn't find it ANYWHERE! I found a color slightly similar by Sally Hansen called "A Girl's Best Friend" from the Christmas collection. It is a very sheer color but has a lot of fine shimmer that reflects golds, yellows, and pinks.

I have been wanting "Party Hearty" for the longest time. I went to Ulta and they were sold out but they did have this trio for $9.99. It includes "Phat Santa," "Jolly Holly," and "Party Hearty." I love all of the colors. They are perfect for the holiday season. The red (Phat Santa) is my favorite. It's super shiny and is such a buildable color. "Jolly Holly" is a nice shimmery forest green. It looks great with "Party Hearty" on top. The shimmer is goldish and it looks like there is some red thrown in as well. "Party Hearty" is Christmas in a jar. It is by far the most festive glitter polish I have ever seen.

In the latest issue of Seventeen Magazine (the one with Taylor Swift on the cover) there was a coupon for a free Orly nailpolish from Ulta. There were three colors to choose from but sadly by the time I got mine there was only two left. I chose the silver since my silver is dried up. I love it so much, it's so shiny! I painted a french tip over my "Phat Santa" and it reminded me of a Santa hat. I will be painting my nails this combination closer to Christmas :)

The last color is Revlon's "Gray Suede." This color by no means is gray, but more of a nude. It's more a taupe than a gray. This is the color I currently have on my nails. I love it, it's so neutral and perfect for any occasion. Nude colors make your fingers look longer and slimmer...who doesn't love that combination?

Lips: N.Y.C. Blue Rose

WOW! That is how I would describe this lipstick. I've been on the search for a bright magenta lipstick and this one has fulfilled my search. I bought it at Ulta for around $2. The pictures don't do this lipstick justice. It almost reminds me of OPI's Pompeii Purple in lipstick form.

I like that it has blue undertones because that makes your teeth look whiter and who doesn't like white teeth? It has a slight shimmer and sheen to it but that is easily fixable using a Kleenex to blot.

I recommend using a lip liner as a base before using this lipstick just to ensure its long lasting capability. I didn't use one...I need to find a matching color. This color is perfect for the upcoming holiday season. I think it looks best when blotted and no gloss on top.

Lips: N.Y.C. Gloss Park Ave Pink

This lipgloss is very yummy..yes yummy. It smells like watermelon Jolly Ranchers. I don't find the formula sticky at all which is hard to find in $4 lipglosses.

I love the packaging. I am a fan of the slim, pencil-like lip gloss tubes.
The color is very sheer and shiny with small glitters.

I like the color on its own for a sheer gloss but it would look very nice over almost every lipstick or stain color.

Lips: Rimmel Pink Blush

I LOVE THIS LIPSTICK!!! This lipstick is comparable to MACs Viva Gaga in my opinion. I do not own Viva Gaga but from the endless amount of times I've swatched it at the MAC counter I can say that this is almost an exact dupe, maybe a little darker.

This was around $3.50 since I had a $1 off coupon.

The formula of this lipstick is very creamy and shiny-- no gloss needed. I used a NYX's lipliner in Rose underneath because I noticed it was a little streaky without it.

Eyes: NYX Eyeshadow Trio Hippie Chic

I was at Ulta the other day and saw this. Best part of all it was on sale for around $5. I've been eyeing this for a while but never thought I would use the colors. As always NYX products have very nice pigmentation. The shadows aren't chalky at all, they are so smooth and creamy (in a powdery way.)

The color combination is very nice as well. My favorite is the teal. I don't know when I'll wear it but I will make sure to find a time.

I am obsessed with nail polish. No matter what brand it is, I can never get enough. I went through my endless collection and picked out some of my favorites.

Review: YSL Faux Cils

I was at Nordstrom's over the weekend and they were having a special where if you bought 2 mascaras you got a free one. How can you pass up an opportunity like this?! I decided to try the YSL Faux Cils since there is so much buzz about it.

I am so in love with this mascara. I was using Maybelline Falsies before and there is a big difference. The brush on the YSL prevents clumping like the Maybelline one can do. The formula of the YSL is alot smoother too. While putting it on I smelled a fruity smell and realized it was the mascara. It smells so good-- I feel weird saying that when talking about a mascara. This is a pricey mascara at $30 a tube but it is so worth it. If you ever feel like splurging I recommend splurging on this.

I also love the packaging. It looks so rich and elegant.

The one thing that I don't like about this mascara is that it doesn't come in waterproof. Hopefully they release a waterproof one!

Tutorial: Sheer Smokey with Cat Eye

I was flipping through one of my makeup books- Eye Candy by Linda Mason to be exact- and I saw this look:
I wanted to make this look more "out there" so I added a thick liquid liner cat eye:

Steps to achieve the above look:
**Click the pictures for a magnified view. the post wouldn't format correctly if I made them any bigger, sorry!**

1. Apply a base. I used NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

2. Rub the base onto your eyelid all the way up to the brow bone. Smudge a little on your lower lash line as well.

3. Using a small flat eyeshadow brush, apply a light shimmery grey color all over the lid. Apply a little on your lower lash line.

4. Take a different brush and apply a matte darker grey along both lash lines. Create a winged tip (follow your lower lash line up to get the perfect shape)

5. Using a liquid liner or liner pen, line your upper lash line. Following your lower lash line up create the wing tip. Bring it back to the upper lash line by drawing it at an angle.

 6. Now use a eye liner and line your water line and tight line as well as filling in any bare spots in the cat eye liner.

7. Using the mascara of your choice apply 2 coats to your upper and lower lashes.

The look is complete! I hope you enjoyed this :)

p.s. i realize one eye is a lot better than the other hahaha :)

xoxo
