Tutorial: Sheer Smokey with Cat Eye

I was flipping through one of my makeup books- Eye Candy by Linda Mason to be exact- and I saw this look:
I wanted to make this look more "out there" so I added a thick liquid liner cat eye:

Steps to achieve the above look:
**Click the pictures for a magnified view. the post wouldn't format correctly if I made them any bigger, sorry!**

1. Apply a base. I used NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

2. Rub the base onto your eyelid all the way up to the brow bone. Smudge a little on your lower lash line as well.

3. Using a small flat eyeshadow brush, apply a light shimmery grey color all over the lid. Apply a little on your lower lash line.

4. Take a different brush and apply a matte darker grey along both lash lines. Create a winged tip (follow your lower lash line up to get the perfect shape)

5. Using a liquid liner or liner pen, line your upper lash line. Following your lower lash line up create the wing tip. Bring it back to the upper lash line by drawing it at an angle.

 6. Now use a eye liner and line your water line and tight line as well as filling in any bare spots in the cat eye liner.

7. Using the mascara of your choice apply 2 coats to your upper and lower lashes.

The look is complete! I hope you enjoyed this :)

p.s. i realize one eye is a lot better than the other hahaha :)

Haul: Stella & Dot

I recently went to a Stella & Dot jewelry party. It's one of those Pampered Chef-like parties with the representative and all the merchandise out for you to buy. This is my second time purchasing from Stella & Dot and it won't be the last. Here is what I recently got:

I have always loved leather bracelets. This one was no exception. I love the gold hardware since it jazzes it up a bit. The deep purple color is perfect for fall as well
Clover Single Wrap Bracelet in Purple

I was stuck between getting this teal bracelet or the purple one pictured above. They each are different especially with the different metals. At $39 I couldn't help but get both.
Clover Single Wrap Bracelet in Teal

Over the summer I constantly saw these bracelets. At first I wasn't the biggest fan of them but after constantly seeing them I'm realizing how simple they are. I love how they wrap around twice and aren't too shiny. It's one of those bracelets you can wear everyday.
These two bracelets are separate but I liked both so much I couldn't decide.
Nugget Double Wrap Bracelet in Gold and Silver
I needed a simple every day type necklace. I saw this one and thought it was perfect. The chain is adjustable so it's easy to find the perfect length. This was $39.
Glint Flower CZ Necklace in Silver

All pictures are from the Stella & Dot website. I highly recommend purchasing from this company. I love the quality of the jewelry. Even though most of it isn't gold plated or filled they last forever. I have a simple gold chain necklace that I've worn countless number of times and I have yet to see discoloration on the chain or charms.

I Am Obsessed With...

SPEAK NOW!

Taylor Swift's newest CD came out yesterday and of course I had to go get it. She has an exclusive CD with Target that has bonus footage, the "Mine" music video, and 3 additional songs. I have been a fan of Taylor Swift ever since she became famous. The songs I have had had on repeat are: "Enchanted," "Sparks Fly," "Back to December (acoustic)," and "Haunted (acoustic)." She is so talented and I love how this CD has songs aimed at specific people and she has said who those people are (Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Camilla Belle)

What do you think of her songs? Any favorites?

Current Nail Polish

I just painted my nails with Hopelessly in Love by OPI. I had this on my toes a while back and loved the look of it. Its such a sheer color so it's almost like you don't have anything on. Love this color, it's definitely one of my favorites.

Trend: Faux Fur

Faux fur vests are everywhere this fall and winter season. I'm so happy because that means, for the most part, no animals are being killed in the process. It also makes them a lot more affordable than mink or fox vests.
Forever 21 $22.90

Leopard Jackets are also making quite the appearance. Leopard print is very popular as well. Like I mentioned in my previous post, leopard cardigans ands sweaters can be found everywhere!
Forever 21 $39.80

Most vests are a grey and brown mix but every once in a while you come across a nice cream colored one. This one is faux lamb fur and looks to be quite shaggy.
Forever 21 $22.90

I used to think fur was a bit too much, faux or real, but now that new styles and silhouettes are coming out the trend is quite flexible. They not only add warmth but a lot of texture. Fur can be a daunting thing but when paired with a dress or jeans and boots they look flawless. As long as you are confident while wearing it it'll look good.

The reason I pick Forever 21 often as well as Urban Outfitters is because it is affordable. Since many trends aren't around for too long it's nice to just get something for the season without blowing your money.

Fall Trend: Sweater

Forever 21

Leopard Cardigans and Sweaters: Leopard print is everywhere this fall-- shoes, clothes, handbags, accessories, you name it and they're a leopard print form of that. You can find leopard and cardigans anywhere. Victoria's Secret has a tan one as well as grey. You can pair it with skinny jeans or jeggings or even wear over a dress.

Forever 21

Crochet: These sweaters are making a come back. They have a very cozy look and are easy to match. I recently purchased one on sale ($19.99) from Urban Outfitters that is perfect for the fall weather. I think they look best over skinny jeans and nice tall boot.

Urban Outfitters

Striped Cardigans and Sweaters: Stripes have been appearing in every season this past year. The skinnier stripes are more flattering on people and in my opinion look better overall. The one pictured above is from Urban Oufitters but I've been seeing striped sweater and cardigans everywhere from department stores to small boutiques. They go great with a pair of leggings and a t-shirt underneath for a casual look or jeans and a beaded top for a more put together look.

Urban Outfitters

Christmas Sweaters: Everyone always makes fun of people who wear these types of sweaters but not anymore. They are coming back in new styles and a little bit modernized. Wearing one of these in my opinion takes me back to Christmases in the 90s. As long as you don't wear one of these with mom jeans you're set. But I know mom jeans are some people's style so if you wear it with those you'll just be incorporating a current trend into your personal style, which is always a good thing.

Urban Outfitters

Fishermen Sweaters: Fishermen sweaters are an Irish tradition. My dad has one since he is Irish and I always wanted one and pleaded and pleaded my mom to knit me one. Every family has their own stiching pattern which makes them unique. These are usually a cream color like the picture above which makes it very easy to match.

Sweaters are a fall and winter staple, in my opinion. They cozy-up any outfit and keep you warm with the crisp winds that come with fall. They are so easy to match and look great with practically every outfit.

Review: e.l.f. Cosmetics

I recently received my order from e.l.f. This was my second time ordering from them and I was satisfied with most of my purchases.
I bought:
- 4 mineral eye shadows
- 2 facial whips; an additional one was sent as a gift
- 1 lipstick
- 2 mineral lip glosses
- 1 waterproof eyeliner pen

Mineral Eye Shadows
I already had 2 from my previous purchase and loved them so much to order more. They are very comparable to bare minerals eye shadows. The sparkle in these are amazing as well as the pigmentation. When used with a primer or base they last forever.

Facial Whips
These can be used to highlight your face, eyes, or even lips. I was very excited to try these but sadly I was left disappointed. First of all, they smell really odd, almost like a sweat odor...not very pleasant. Second, they are sticky and take a while to fully dry. And finally they don't show up to well, at least on my skin they didn't. Everyone always talks to highly of these but I don't see what the hype is all about. I was not pleased.

Lipstick & Lipgloss

This lipstick is from their essential collection ($1). I am very pleased with this. The color payoff is very nice. The formula is a little on the dry side but it has a pretty creamy consistency, although I wish it was a little creamier. It has a nice fruity smell. The pigmentation is pretty good as well. I only purchased one so I don't have anything to compare it to. The color I got, Seductive, doesn't have any shimmer or glitter.
I love these lip glosses! The colors that I purchased are so pretty. The pigmentation on these is really good and the formula isn't very sticky. It comes with a doe foot applicator which makes it easy for applying. I wish they lasted a little longer but I got what I paid for, $3 each. Daring has gold glitter. Bare doesn't have any shimmer or glitter.

Eye Liner
I've never tried an eyeliner pen before but I absolutely love this one. It has a very fine tip so the line thickness is all up to you. Having eyeliner in a pen form makes it so much easier to apply close to your lash line as well as fixing any bumpy lines. You can't beat the price either at only $1! I believe these are also sold in store so you don't have to pay for shipping if this is all you want. I purchased the black eyeliner.
